BIOGRAPHY

Antoine BOUVARD (1840-1920)

French painter, born in Saint-Jean-de-Bournay in Isère in 1840. Died in 1920 in Paris. Antoine Bouvard is an architect; he attended Beaux Arts in Paris at Constant-Dufeux, became director of the Architeture de la Seine, built in Paris the Bourse du Travail and the barracks of boulevard Morland. The landscapes that he brings back from his numerous escapades to Venice do not bear any traces of the dry and rigorous environment refered to the painting of the architects, the forms are immersed in a sort of fluidity colored caressing volumes with a lot of delicacy.
