PROVENANCE : Leo Castelli Gallery, New York

In 1964, Andy Warhol created his famous “Flowers” series for an exhibition at Leo Castelli Gallery in New York. These works, based on a magazine photo of hibiscus flowers, marked a shift from his usual celebrity and consumer themes to nature, though still rendered in his signature bold colors and screen-printing technique. Despite the floral subject, the series retains Warhol’s detached, almost mechanical aesthetic, blurring the line between beauty and mass production. The “Flowers” became one of his most iconic and widely recognized bodies of work.
