She died on April 30, 2018, in Dreux, France. Claisse was a prominent figure in the field of geometric abstract art and was part of the Op Art movement. She began her artistic career in the 1950s, after studying at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and with Auguste Herbin, a leading figure in the geometric abstraction movement.
