EXHIBITION :
– Eva Jospin, “Foreste”, Mazarine Variations Gallery, September 22 – November 5, 2011

In Petite Forêt 17, Eva Jospin transforms cardboard, a humble and fragile material, into a highly refined sculptural landscape. Through a meticulous process of cutting, layering and engraving, the artist creates an imaginary forest in which each trunk appears to preserve the memory of the artist’s hand. The vertical forms rise and intertwine within a composition that is both carefully constructed and instinctive. The textures of the cardboard evoke the surface of bark, while the interplay of shadow and depth gives this miniature forest an almost architectural presence. At the intersection of sculpture and drawing in space, the work invites the viewer to enter a silent world suspended between reality and imagination. Eva Jospin reveals here the poetic potential of an ordinary material, transformed into a contemplative landscape where nature becomes a space of reverie and inner exploration.
